The GOOD LIFE is what we strive for… we are searching for it all the time. We want to experience life to the fullest, to find fulfillment, satisfaction, and purpose…we want the GOOD LIFE. So often, though, our search for the GOOD LIFE leads us back to the frustrating reality of ordinary.

Could it be that we are not looking in the right place? . . . In Matthew 5–7, Jesus delivers arguably the most famous teaching ever shared: the Sermon on the Mount. It’s a provocative and counter-cultural sermon about what happens when we live as God intended. Jesus invites us to sit at His table and hear Him repeatedly say: Now that’s the GOOD LIFE.

October 20: A Run in with the Law [part 2]

Matthew 5:21-26

Once we see the purpose of the Law we can begin to understand the application of the principles of the Kingdom through Christ. We will seek to understand that the law of the kingdom is a direction not a line covering anger, lust, and divorce.

Sermon Notes

October 27: Keeping Our Vows

Matthew 5:27-37

Do we ever connect the truth that honoring our word honors God? To live under the umbrella of love is to keep our promises. We will recognize that lust is counterfeit love, a knock-off of something much better and truly fulfilling.

Sermon Notes

We will talk about the true meaning of “an eye for an eye” and why we should turn the other cheek, the kind of love we should have for our enemies, and the importance of giving, praying, and fasting in the life of the believer.

Sermon Notes

November 10: Treasures, Part 1

Matthew 6:19-24

It doesn’t take long to know where our treasure lie. In fact, having a heart bent toward treasures is a good and Godly thing. The rub comes when the Kingdom of this world and IT’S treasures are in conflict with the Kingdom of God and HIS treasures. What is the antidote? How do we resolve the conflict? We will look at Jesus’ heart and desire for us regarding our treasures.
