Laura’s Home

Laura’s Home is a homeless shelter where women and children find rest and restoration. They are a bridge from crisis to stability and self-sufficiency. With 166 beds and 55 rooms, Laura’s Home offers specialized, wraparound services designed to empower families and individuals to live healthy lives. Their overall goal is to identify each person’s unique needs, and assist them with the best care and resources available.

Description: There are two ways to serve at Laura’s home. The first, is through general group volunteer opportunities and the second is their special events. The special events have specific dates attached to them; however, the general group volunteer opportunities need to be scheduled by calling in advance.

Level of Difficulty: For most opportunities, Laura’s Home asks that volunteers be at least 16 years or older, and those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The special events are more family friendly, therefore younger kids would be able to participate in those!

After the telling of this story in Scripture, Jesus said “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan’s Purse- to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.

Description: Samaritan’s Purse has a widespread of opportunities to get involved in. Currently, most opportunities are international trips or becoming a host family for overseas refugees. However, a major part of Samaritan’s Purse is their Christmas outreach called, “Operation Christmas Child”. This is where our Life Groups can serve!
